Water/Roads Department   Full Job Description

HYRUM CITY is accepting resumes for a full time Public Works employee with emphasis on Culinary Water and Roads.  Duties include maintenance, installation, connection, and repair of water lines and meters; and repair and maintenance of roads including snow removal.  Must have some experience operating a backhoe, loader, grader, and other heavy equipment.  Must have knowledge of water quality standards and related regulations including control valves, and fire hydrant repair and maintenance.  Removes snow, salts and sands roads, completes cold mix and hot mix patching, maintains road shoulders, grades gravel roads, and replaces street and traffic signs.  Familiar with and able to maintain SCADA and GIS Software.

Certifications/Licenses:  Must possess a High School Diploma, and a valid Utah Class A Commercial Drivers License.  Must possess or obtain within one year of hiring State Certification as a Water System Operator Grade II, and Backflow Certification.

Work Environment:  Requires ability to perform moderately heavy physical manual labor frequently lifting up to 100 pounds.  Must be able to twist, kneel, and bend for associated tasks performed in the field.  Requires climbing down into manholes and exposure to certain chemicals commonly used in the treatment of water. Daily exposure to varying weather conditions and seasonal extremes.

Upon employment candidate must reside within ten miles of the Hyrum City Offices.  Must be willing to work on-call duty and 24 hour standby.
