West Nile Information For Hyrum City

The Cache County Mosquito Abatement District has confirmed that a mosquito trap in Hyrum has tested positive for the West Nile Virus. It is advised that precautions are taken to avoid mosquito bites and reduce your risk of exposure.

Health officials recommend following the 5 Ds:  
1. DRAIN: Eliminate standing water around your home or workplace.
2. DAWN & DUSK: Avoid outdoor activities during peak mosquito times. 
3. DEET: Use insect repellents with DEET or other EPA-approved ingredients.
4. DRESS: Wear lightweight, loose, long sleeve shirts and long pants outdoors.
5. DOOR: Ensure doors and window screens are in good repair.
